I think of you

I finally listened to a song you used to post, to tell me to go away. It's both a rejection and maybe some attempt at a tender send-off, but when I was young, the concept of the rejection alone would just send me into aching tears. I wonder if you knew how deeply you hurt me, if that would have changed your behavior at all. Or if that was the point.

When I listen to it now, it sounds cowardly, and corny. A shallow song.

I hear another song - "I think of you, my beloved." Minor key, a plea with weight, a song with self-giving in it, and love's seriousness.
